OSHA Inducts Two FWI Asphalt Plants Into Voluntary Protection Program
Fred Weber, Inc.’s O’Fallon Asphalt Plant and South Asphalt Plant have been recognized as “star” sites, the highest level of recognition that OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) offers.
Fred Weber, Inc. is proud to announce that two of its Asphalt Plants have been accepted into OSHA’s prestigious Voluntary Protection Program.
At an induction ceremony held on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, the US Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) honored Fred Weber, Inc.’s O’Fallon Asphalt and South Asphalt Plants for their outstanding and exemplary commitment to safety.
Achieving VPP status is OSHA’s highest honor. Only 2100 companies in the nation have been granted permission to sail the coveted VPP Flag. Of those 2100 companies, only five are Asphalt Producing Companies – O’Fallon Asphalt and South Asphalt are numbers "four" and "five"! The St. Louis OSHA office covers the eastern half of MO, recognizing only 25 VPP’s in their jurisdiction. Fred Weber, Inc. is a proud member of this elite group.
OSHA’s recognition programs include the VPP for employers and employees who have implemented exemplary workplace safety and health management systems. Management, labor and OSHA work cooperatively and proactively to prevent injuries, illnesses and workplace hazards. As part of attaining VPP status, employers must demonstrate management commitment to the safety and health of their employees, and actively involve employees in the safety and health management system.
Congratulations to everyone at Fred Weber, Inc. who made this possible.
