The Fred Weber, Inc. Management Safety Policy reads:

It is the policy of Fred Weber, Inc. that every employee is entitled to work under the safest conditions practicable in the construction and construction materials industries. To this end, every reasonable effort will be made in the interest of accident prevention, health preservation and fire protection. The company will endeavor to maintain a safe and healthful workplace. It will provide safe equipment to work with, necessary personal protection equipment and, in the case of injury, provide the best first aid and medical services available. We have formalized our safety program and utilize written reports and records to achieve the maximum use and effectiveness of accident prevention information.

We have implemented several programs and procedures to ensure that every employee is equipped with the knowledge and resources to establish and maintain a safe and healthy working environment.

    Each week managers discuss one safety issue with their employees

    Safety department personnel visit sites to discuss current safety issues with every employee

    Training that improves job performance

    Safety is fully explained – what’s expected in general and for specific jobs
  • Orange Hard Hat Safety Committees
    5 groups, with representation from various crafts and trades discuss current safety issues and implement procedures to make Fred Weber, Inc. as safe as possible
  • Plant Visit and Job Site Programs
    Visits by superintendents and safety department personnel are conducted to spot potential problems and encourage adherence to safety programs

Safety is an integral part of our culture. With management’s strong support, we have many programs that teach and remind employees about the importance of a safe workplace, and we reward those that excel in the field of safety.

Incentive Programs:

Leadership Awards
To recognize outstanding supervisors, each year we give the Fred Weber, Sr. Safety Leadership Award. To include non-supervisory employees, we award the James R. Andrews Safety Leadership Award.

Safety Does Pay
Each year we recognize supervisory and non-supervisory employees who are nominated by fellow employees and selected by the Safety Committees with monetary awards from $250 to $3,000.

Agencies

We work primarily with two federal agencies that are concerned with safety and health. Our programs are based on their regulations.

    Construction sites/asphalt plants/
    Concrete batch plants/landfill
  • Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA)
    For surface and underground quarries/mines
    and dredging operations
