I-270 Dorsett/Page Project

In July 2009, the Missouri Department of Transportation awarded Fred Weber, Inc. a $35 million contract for three construction projects located along I-270 at Dorsett Rd., Page Ave., and Marine Ave.

I-270 at Dorsett will see the construction of a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI).  This type of interchange design is new to North America, with the first ever DDI being constructed by MoDOT in the summer of 2009 in Springfield, MO.  The I-270/Dorsett DDI will be the second of three to be built in the state of Missouri.   Some of the advantages of a diverging diamond interchange include free turns for motorists, meaning vehicles don’t cross opposing traffic. Traffic models indicate this type of interchange works well with areas of heavy traffic, such as Dorsett Road.  The new interchange at Dorsett will also see new asphalt pavement, signals, lighting and aesthetic enhancements.

Construction of this project began in April of 2010 and completion is expected by winter 2010.

The I-270/Page project also began in the spring of 2010, and will include a northbound I-270 dual lane flyover ramp to westbound Route 364 (Page Avenue).  Completion is expected by fall of 2011.

The bridge rehabilitation at the Marine overpass at I-270 is in the process of creating a new staging plan and is expected to begin in summer 2011.  Completion of that project is scheduled for September 2011.
